Hands On is a brand development series that was created only through illustration elements. Encouraged to create our own restaurant, we were thereby instructed to create a series of collateral. This brief encouraged us to utilise and build on our illustration techniques, whilst considering how to produce numerous pieces of collateral from a series of illustrations.

The overall brief entailed the creation of a hand drawn typographic logo, hero image and a series of mascots. From this we were encouraged to develop as much collateral as possible from our designs and see how they would integrate into our chosen idea. Hands On is the story of a “hands on” burger joint/dingy bar.
This series of illustrations and hand drawn typographic are reminiscent of the grungy and lo-fi feel I have been developing within my work. Minimalistic line drawings are the focus of this piece. With a monochromatic colour palette, I didn’t want to leave much to the imagination. The audience knows what they’re getting into as soon as they arrive.

Overall, this brief encouraged me to understand how to utilise fewer icons (or in this case illustrations) and make the most with them. It also showcases my diversity as a designer, showing that I am able to communicate and excel across multiple mediums.
